EMPOWERMEANT: 12 PLAYS IN A ROW (Synopsis and Cast)
1. "5,6,7,8" starring Bham Sumooc and Jha Briones: Story of a teenage boy who will do everything to achieve his dreams and who wont allow anything or anyone to stop him, despite his background and upbringing.
2. "Hansel at Gretel" starring Renan Regencia, Janine Tolentino, JM Grafia and Diane Sy: A Filipino retelling of the classic fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm.
3. "Borderline" starring Benedick Hernandez and Nickeizo Paz is a story about how one's language barrier can lead to mistaken identities and misconceptions
4. ''I Can't Think of It Right Now'' a story of a couple trying to remember an award winning movie of Mel Gibson and somewhere along the way discovers a disease has striken them both preventing them to even remember their own son's name. The play stars Khristen Veramarie Balagtas Capiral and Ramil Ramos Pauig.
5. "Kapirasing Bulbol ni Johnny Depp" starring VJ Mendoza, Gimay Galvan, and Trixie Dauz is a satire about how one would go to lengths in obtaining a fervent desire in the midst of a culture pervaded by idolatry.
6. "Suor Clara" starring Eva Madera and Mark Jones Simbit is a reimagining of the ephemeral relationship between Maria Clara and Padre Salvi
7. "Borrowed Parts" starring Anaya Gonida and Gerald Santos. In this short one-act play, Martha takes refuge from her abusive husband at the home of a male neighbor. But when she becomes sexually involved with this stranger, she discovers too late that he, too, may have dark tendencies.
8. "Beijing Big Mac" starring Chris Baes and Josh Soria tells of an encounter between two strangers inside Mcdonalds in Beijing.
9. "Talents" starring Lanie Layag, Maricar Basco, Khrysta Diola, Lester Viterbo, and Ecel Gonzales is about the aspirations of extras.
10. "Dalawang Ama" starring Cesar Batistis, Japo Parcero, Love Briola, and Gerome Palparan is a tale of paternal love entangled in a web of betrayal, sacrifice, and deception.
11. "Donut" starring Archie Gonzales and Ecel Gonzales tells of a misunderstanding about food choices between two people.
12. "Ang Kalungkutan ng Mga Reyna" starring CJ Mangahis, Floid Zulueta, and Lester Viterbo in a play about a female leader in the Philippines who believes that monarchy is what the country needs in order to flourish. The play uses the hair as a visual metaphor for status, as well as a curious presentation of the theory that a leader, by projecting a drastically different image of herself, can camouflage her dark intentions and change society’s perceptions on self-serving corrupt officials.
